Malaparte Wedding Toronto, Ontario
April & Ivan’s Malaparte wedding was Dragon Boat themed, because that is how they met! The dragon boat-related details were tastefully incorporated into their navy, blush and cream wedding decor. This resulted in a beautiful celebration that was also meaningful to the couple.
At my initial consults, I always try to ask my clients why they chose their wedding venue. It says a lot about their personal taste, and what is important and meaningful to them! April & Ivan decided to have a Malaparte wedding because they loved this Toronto event venue’s modern aesthetic and its bright, clean design. Hosting their wedding in the downtown core was also a way for them to pay homage to Toronto, with a beautiful view of the skyline.
Their wedding day started off super low-key. The girls enjoyed some bubbly, and the guys were tasked with assembling a pair of mini Lego bride & groom figurines. I thought they were super cute, so they became a prop for April & Ivan’s wedding ring photos!
April & Ivan incorporate their dragon boat theme in a number of ways. Firstly, instead of using a traditional Guestbook, they had their guests sign real rowing paddles! They also used the paddles as a prop for their grand entrance during their Malaparte wedding reception. Secondly, all the tables were named after dragon boat docks that April & Ivan have visited together. Even the place cards were made out of origami dragon boats, which were all folded by April’s mom.
To end off the night, we planned a sparkler-lit first dance for the couple on Malaparte’s rooftop terrace. As they swayed to Florence + The Machine’s cover of Stand by Me, April & Ivan were surrounded by warm twinkling lights, the breathtaking Toronto skyline, and their closest friends and family. It was nothing short of magical!
